Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. A set of standardized protocols, it incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To date, EMDR has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress.

My experience is that EMDR is an exceptionally useful tool to help people process unconscious thoughts, feelings and behaviour that prevent them from making change in their lives.
Imagine it as therapist-facilitated REM sleep (stimulation of the brain, usually through tapping on the knees). While I bilaterally stimulate the left and right hemispheres of your brain, you process whatever issue is going on for you at present.
There is no hypnosis. You are fully awake, in control and can stop the process at any time. Utmost care is taken to not overwhelm you emotionally, but to help you process difficult emotions in a way that feels safe and successful.
I have used EMDR to help people process a number of issues, including but not limited to the list of areas of practice found here.
